Ming 17.09-17.09 The 17-series is watchmaker Ming’s entry-level yet final edition of the series that was a sell-out and now discontinued. The 17.09 Burgundy dial is famously eye catching because of its Clous-de-Paris guilloche, laser-etched and lume-filled indices on the underside of the sapphire crystal in place of convention indices on the dial. These features make the timepiece unbelievably unique and proves the founder Ming Thein’s industrial design creativity. Hanhart 417 X Revolution Edition Mk II -H7012310 Being a legendary German maison for chronographs and stop watches since 1882, Hanhart built the first pilot’s chronograph for the German armed forces from the mid-1950s for almost ten years. This model gained its spotlight when personally worn and loved by non-other than the mercurial “King of Cool” Hollywood actor Steve McQueen who also made the Tag Heuer Monaco and Rolex Submariner the brands they are today. This watch was in fact documented in many of McQueen’s motorcycle expeditions and had an appearance in the movie “The War Lover”. The 417 was one of the most beautiful yet rugged designed military chronographs ever created and was reintroduced by Hanhart in 2020. It was a watch that was designed from scratch and not a modernised version of a vintage model. Instead of a vertical shape, the case of this Tank was now horizontal and even the largest model wore very well, especially on smaller wrists. The Tank Divan takes its name from the French word for “couch”, owing to its wide shape and cushioned contours. It had a short-lived life and was discontinued five years later in 2007. This resulted in the production of very small and a limited quantity of watches. One such watch was this Montblanc Villeret 1858 which was launched during the SIHH 2007.
